As part of its longstanding partnership with Embrace, the Princess Basma Centre recently organized a visit to the Yatta Municipal Center in Hebron Governorate. David McColl , representing Embrace, accompanied the Princess Basma team on this important visit. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to empowering children with disabilities through high-quality services and local centers in the West Bank.
Mr. David McColl expressed his thoughts on the importance of this collaboration emphasizing the value of providing support and expertise to the partner centers. "I see firsthand the challenges here, from travel difficulties to financial and staffing issues. Despite this, children with disabilities are learning, families are supported, and I admire the Yatta team's persistence and the Princess Basma team's efforts. It's encouraging to witness this in such a challenging context."
"Working in Gaza is a historical moment. While there's fear and uncertainty about the future, Princess Basma's work gives us hope, showing that there are partners committed to supporting those on the margins, especially children with disabilities."
For her part, the General Director of the Princess Basma Foundation, Mrs. Violette Mubarak, highlighted the importance of continuing to provide the institution's services as a national center, both at its headquarters and in the field. She stated: "One of our top priorities is to maintain the continuity of our comprehensive services. As a national Centre for resources and referrals, we continuously strive to ensure the sustainability and improvement of the quality of our services at the Child Rehabilitation Center and through our partner centers via the Outreach Program. We also aim to guarantee that Palestinian children with disabilities have access to high-quality rehabilitation services, which empower them and their families towards full integration into society, enabling them to become active members of their communities."
The Director of Yatta Municipal Center, Mr. Omar, Abu Eram reflected on the impact of the collaboration emphasizing the positive transformation it has brought to the services provided by the center. “Our goal has always been to improve the skills of our team at the center. Through the Outreach program, our staff has benefited immensely from the expertise of JPBC, a renowned institution in the field of rehabilitation. This partnership enabled us to establish two autism classrooms in our center and we are now active in this field.
Additionally, we now understand the critical role that parents, especially mothers, play in the therapeutic process. We are committed to training and involving them in this process to achieve the best outcomes for their children.”
The visit underscores the commitment of both institutions to improve the lives of children with disabilities and their families.
