A high-profile visit to the Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre by a delegation from Catholic Relief Services

The Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre hosted a high-profile delegation from Catholic Relief Services, represented by the President and CEO, Mr. Sean Callahan, the Director of the Catholic Relief Services Office in Palestine, Ms. Michelle Ryan, the Director of the Civic Participation and Community Engagement Project, Mr. Elias Koraytem, as well as a number of funders and supporters of the work of the Catholic Relief Services organization.

The delegation was briefed on all the services that the Basma Centre provides children with disabilities from various Palestinian governorates, and Mr. Callahan praised the work of the institution in serving children with disabilities.

For her part, the Director General of Basma Centre, Mrs. Violette Mubarak, welcomed this visit and thanked Catholic Relief Services for its support. She stressed the importance of partner support to ensure the sustainability of the Centre's work, expand the range of services and reach children with disabilities from different governorates, especially Gaza.

The visit comes within the partnership between The Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Family Health International (FHI 360), within the framework of the Civic and Community Participation Project which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre is implementing a Civic Participation and Community Engagement Project , which seeks to “Improve life opportunities for children with disabilities in the West Bank, empower their mothers and provide them with the necessary resources to support them and advocate for their children’s rights.

The project implemented by the JPBC includes a series of activities carried out within the framework of the Mother and Family Empowerment Program. The aim is to raise awareness and empower families thereby ensuring the sustainability of the provision of Comprehensive Rehabilitation services to Palestinian children with disabilities through the training of their families, in addition to transferring experience and knowledge to partner institutions at the grassroots level in the various governorates of the West Bank.
